Day 50: What a Waste
I want to go ahead and warn you that today has been quite boring, and not to expect much.
This morning, Greg and I thoroughly searched the RV for anything we had missed when we packed last night. We finished up our packing, throwing away anything we wouldn’t be keeping. We took the RV around and dumped our many different types of waste before heading off for the rental place.
Returning the rental went much quicker than getting it. In fact, the staff barely even inspected the beast before Oking us and sending us on our way. At the airport, we got to check in the special business class room instead of just a business class line. They even had a customs agent there so that we didn’t have to wait in the normal customs lines (which weren’t long at all).
All of the speedy processes we made it through meant that we had plenty of time in the lounge to eat, shower, and work on our computers. During my shower, I heard an announcement that my flight was delayed two hours, giving me even more time in the lounge. This was actually great, as I was going to have a five-hour layover in LAX, where I wouldn’t have Greg to get me into the lounge. With all of this extra time, I was actually able to go through an entire online course for incoming freshman at NC State.
Eventually, my flight was boarding, and soon we took off. I watched some movies and slept a bit, and about nine hours into the flight, the clock struck midnight in Auckland, and my “day” was over. Sort of.
Glad you made it to PHX. You’re right this was a lame day although I did clear out a pile of emails – till my fingers were sore and battery was fading.
It is nice that you have the first 24 hours of August 1st behind you and can still do something cool in the next ½ of the same extra-long day.
I caught a few delays as well due to big storms coming in off Antarctica.
Madi loved the Kiwi bird we bought. She went with “Kanoodle” for the name so you’re still the only Rock Star / Legend with an animal named after you in this house.
Who was your photographer in this shot? What a great photo! Ha Ha
See Ya have fun in PHX
She already picked a name? I thought a minimum of 24 hours of debate was required…
